Description
This picture is conjured from the “Last Smile’ shot of Yogananda, minutes before his passing. That photo is of course B&W and has has virtually no shadow to work with. Frankly, an inner voice kept steering me, sometimes away from the mood of the original.. and it began to ‘break up’ into ‘astral’ pieces and colors as I worked…I went with what was happening and am rather surprised by it all myself…since it is not what I had originally intended. Such is the Guru’s work with us. I am honored just to have been there for the occasion!
P.S. I am certainly not implying here that I had an experience such as Yogananda had when Sri Yukteswar materialized in his hotel room. But, during the creative adventure lines get blurred; voices come, ideas pop like little explosions in the brain and the line between ‘reality’ and ‘vision’ almost merges on occasion. Art is truly a bridge between this hard 3d world and those lighter astral realms.
