As for so many devotees of Amma, her presence within me is palpable. Years ago, before I had had my first hug, I had thought about making the visit to her Darshan.. but then decided not to. She came to me that evening and gave me a spiritual experience I will never forget. The next day I drove down to see her and have been getting ‘hugged’ every year since. What is it now, 33,000,000 people she has hugged? And for so many of them she has changed their lives. How? Her mass is infinite. She, like Yogananda, has come to earth on a world mission and for those who tune in to her, she is immediately present. “For those who think me near, I will be near..” This picture is probably only one of many I will paint of her. The experience of painting it has been ineffable. I cannot fully describe it. Perhaps some of it is revealed in the painting itself.
